The archaeological museum in Konya is a state museum. Founded in 1901, the museum was moved twice before moving to its present location in 1962.
The museum's most important exhibits include sarcophagi and other antiques from the ancient city of Çatalhöyük. Other exhibits relate to the Neolithic, the Bronze Age (Old Bronze Age and Middle Bronze Age), the Iron Age (Phrygia and Urartu), the Classical, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods. One of the most famous exhibits is a marble sarcophagus from the 3rd century BC with elaborate depictions of Hercules.

The finds in nearby Çatalhöyük, consisting of terracotta pottery and stone tools as well as artefacts from the Bronze Age (1950-1750 B.C.), mostly ribbed terracotta ceramics, occupy a large space. From the archaeological excavations in Virgin, Karahöyük and Beyşehir; Middle Bronze Age (1950-1750 B.C.) artefacts from terracotta and bronze rings from Konya Karahöyük are exhibited.

In the open courtyard of the museum there are a number of small sculptures, sarcophagi, column heads and epigraphy.
