Already conceived in the 1960s, this small but fine archaeological museum could only be realised in its present form in 1987. On display are finds from the Lycian cities of Telmessos, Letoon, Xanthos, Kaunos, Tlos, Pinara and Kadyanda. In the museum garden sarcophagi, grave stelae and others are exhibited. The museum is also known for the trilinguals from Letoon, a "trilingual stele" from Letoon with almost identical inscriptions in Greek, Aramaic and Lycian. This column was of decisive importance for the decoding of the Lycian language. |
